Após a conclusão do W2 - Torpsen, o professor Bernhard Kaempfer lança-se num novo objectivo. Criar veículos voadores sem a necessidade de Heated Gas. Este interesse tem como base o estudo do voo das libélulas e as tentativas fracassadas dos Pássaros Mecânicos do Barão Ludovico. O A6 - Firefly foi criado em 2867 DD com fundos do Exército do Ar. Os primeiros testes redundaram em fracassos e Bernhard Kaempfer vê-se obrigado a abandonar este projecto e iniciar sozinho o projecto que levaria ao A9 - Ornithopter. O sucesso deste último fez com que o Exército do Ar pegasse novamente no A6 - Firefly e que após algumas modificações tornou-o eficaz. Existiram várias versões do A6 durante a década seguinte. A principal utilização dada pelo Exército do Ar ao A6 era o lançamento de vagas de soldados a partir dos principais dirigíveis. Esses soldados teriam como missão um ataque em enxame aos dirigíveis inimigos. À semelhança dos A9 - Phalanx Ornithopter, a baixa autonomia dos A6 não se mostrava suficiente para o regresso. Quando o combustível terminava, era aberto um para-quedas para uma queda suave tanto do soldado como do aparelho e serem recolhidos mais tarde. |
Upon completion of the W2 - Torpsen, Professor Bernhard Kaempfer launches into a new objective. Build flying vehicles without the need for Heated Gas. This interest is based on the study of the flight of dragonflies and the failed attempts of Baron Ludovico's Mechanics Birds. The A6 - Firefly was created in 2867 DD with funds from the Army of the Air. The first test ended in failure and Bernhard Kaempfer is forced to abandon this project and start alone the project would lead to A9 - Ornithopter. The success of the latter made the Air Force again catch A6 - Firefly and after some modifications that made it effective. There were several versions of the A6 for the next decade. The main use made by the Army of the Air to the A6 was the launching waves of soldiers from the main airship. These soldiers would be mandated to take an attack to dirigibles enemies. Like the A9 - Phalanx Ornithopter, low autonomy of the A6 is not enough to return. When the fuel ended, it opened a parachute for a soft fall and be collected later. |
