A9 - Phalanx

Após os primeiros testes do A9 - Ornithopter, o Exército do Ar compra a patente do veículo ao Professor Bernhard Kaempfer.

Os técnicos do Exército realizam algumas alterações ao desenho original. A mais significativa é a colocação de uma grande bomba incendiária na parte inferior da aeronave. O motor das asas é também modificado aumentando o poder de manobra e velocidade mas diminuindo a autonomia. Por fim é adaptada uma espingarda de repetição na frente para uso do piloto.

O veículo começou a ser utilizado no final de 2870 na guerra em Graan. Era utilizado como primeira linha de defesa. Ao serem detectados dirigíveis inimigos, vários A9s levantavam voo com o intuito de largar a sua única bomba em cima dos inimigos. Com a pouca autonomia, os A9 eram recolhidos por terra.

A utilização dos A9s foi determinante nas batalhas da primeira metade da década de 70 do Séc. XXIX DD e levou ao início da evolução dos veículos aéreos sem balão.

After the first tests of the A9 - Ornithopter, the Army of the Air buy the vehicle’s patent from professor Bernhard Kaempfer.

Army technicians perform some changes to the original design. The most significant is the placement of a large incendiary bomb at the bottom of the aircraft. The driving force is also modified by increasing the power of maneuver and speed but decreasing autonomy. Finally, it is furnished with a repeating rifle to use in front of the pilot.

The vehicle was being used at the end of 2870 in the war in Graan. It was used as a first line of defense. When undetected enemy airships, several A9s took flight with the intention of dropping its single bomb on top of enemies. With the limited autonomy, the A9 were collected by land.

The use of A9s was decisive in the battles of the first half of the seventies of the Century XXIX DD and led to the beginning of the evolution of aerial vehicles without balloon.
