O Barão Ludovico nasceu em 2787 na cidade livre de Larvish. Proveniente de uma família de aristocratas, estuda em Brüllouse onde conclui estudos em matemáticas na universidade da cidade em 2808. Volta para a sua cidade natal onde irá leccionar no mais famoso colégio particular. Começa a dirigir o estabelecimento ensino pouco depois e interrompe este serviço com a morte do seu pai em 2820. É também nesta altura que numa viagem de negócios a Brüllouse conhece L.P. Anicet e onde começa a sua curiosidade tanto a nível de mitos e lendas de Quatralle como na invenção de novos engenhos. Inicia assim uma vida de aventuras, principalmente no centro e leste de Quatralle. Inventa também alguns engenhos, mas a sua grande investigação (os Pássaros Mecânicos) é a causa da sua morte prematura em 2827.
